Founded by the Shaer family in 2015, My Soldier is a not-for-profit boutique organization that improves the lives of IDF soldiers by providing for their spiritual and physical needs — however big or small.
Here at My Soldier, we’ve made it our mission to meet those needs.
We’re busy organizing projects of all shapes and sizes, ensuring that each one is executed to perfection so that our soldiers get what they need. To us, project size doesn’t matter. That’s why we devote as much time and effort to larger-scale projects like medical clinics, recreation rooms and Sifrei Torah as we do to our smaller-scale projects, such as providing IDF bases with Jewish Holiday packages.
Every soldier is our priority. Every soldier deserves our respect, care and grit.
As a boutique-run organization, My Soldier is uniquely positioned. Our project flow comes directly from the IDF units, with no intermediary. Our team builds warm and trusting relationships with IDF commanders and divisions across Israel, listening to their requests, organizing funding and government approval, and ultimately providing for the soldiers’ needs.
Commanders are comfortable to reach out, letting us know what their soldiers are lacking — be it a fully-equipped recreation room for some much-needed relaxation, or a set of Tefillin for a soldier seeking spiritual connection.
Once a request is made, our team springs into action, connecting with donors and navigating the technicalities until the soldiers get that which has been requested.

Kfar Yona (IDF Elite Paratrooper Unit)
The IDF paratrooper brigade needed a Kosher Sefer Torah that would be portable enough for them to bring along on their missions, to provide them with protection and an opportunity for regular worship.
We partnered with Lizzie Savetsky, a current social media influencer, to make this happen. Lizzie spearheaded a major fundraising campaign, encouraging her followers to take part in this opportunity, and raised the necessary funds for the Sefer Torah to be written. A moving dedication ceremony took place on base, and the soldiers participated in the final writing of some of the Torah letters before receiving their new Sefer Torah.
My Soldier continues to partner with Lizzy Savetsky and the Real Love Real Loss initiative, which aims to recognize those who have experienced miscarriages, and to honor the souls who did not come into this world. Both the love and loss are real.
Beit El
Synagogue construction
The Israel Border Police (Mishmar HaGvul) built a new command base and training center in Beit El, however there was no synagogue on base so the soldiers had nowhere for formal prayer.
We built a beautiful synagogue on base, complete with all the necessary religious equipment and furniture so that the soldiers on base had an accessible location for formal prayer. For the soldiers accustomed to formal worship, this was a game-changer. They finally had a beautiful synagogue, allowing them to remain connected to Jewish tradition during their time in service.

Synagogue expansion
This base is used by many people; both IDF soldiers and the Israel Border Police. The base’s synagogue was too small to accommodate everyone so the soldiers and policemen had to pray outside.
We helped to construct a new synagogue on base, ensuring that there would be enough space for daily prayers inside, with nobody having to settle for outdoor prayers on a regular basis. The soldiers and policemen on base saw that their religious needs were provided for, and now enjoy a far more comfortable synagogue experience.
Yad Mordechai
New Sefer Torah + Synagogue renovation
This base, located in the Gaza strip area, needed a Sefer Torah. We were asked to donate a new Sefer Torah in memory of Hadas Malka, a special soldier who was brutally killed in a terror attack.
We donated a new Sefer Torah to the Yad Mordechai base, bringing honor to Hadas’s memory. We also renovated the synagogue at the base. Both of these things brought joy to the soldiers at the base, giving them a chance to honor the memory of their comrade, and to have regular Torah readings as part of their worship.

Renovation of soldier living quarters
This highly utilized base was previously used by male soldiers only. In recent years, the army started to place female soldiers at this location, however they had to sleep in cramped caravans with five soldiers per four-bed caravan.
We divided the existing living quarters into mens’ and womens’ sections. We also upgraded the overall living conditions by renovating the base’s bathrooms and showers. The day-to-day living experience of the soldiers was vastly improved, and they felt valued knowing that their comfort was prioritized.

Renovation of medical clinic
The medical clinic at this base is in very poor condition, and can barely be used. However, the clinic is absolutely vital as it is needed both to provide medical care for injured soldiers, and to perform mandatory health check-ups on every newly drafted soldier.
To build a new, state-of-the-art medical clinic that will be fully compliant with all current requirements. The clinic will be furnished with the full range of equipment to ensure that it can be used constantly to meet all the medical needs of the base.

Sefer Torah Donation
Many IDF bases lack Sifrei Torah, and others are using Sifrei Torah that are very old or damaged. This means that soldiers do not have the opportunity to read from the Torah regularly.
To ensure that every IDF soldier who wishes to practice religion has the opportunity to do so. We will continue to raise funds to provide Sifrei Torah for IDF bases, and to provide more “traveling Torahs” to accompany soldiers on their training missions.
Tefillin Donation
It is common for IDF soldiers to want to put on Tefillin and make a blessing before training or — more importantly — going out to active battle. Many of them do not own Kosher Tefillin and therefore cannot do so.
To ensure that every IDF soldier who wishes to practice religion has the opportunity to do so. We will continue to raise funds to provide Kosher Tefillin for the soldiers that wish for a spiritual connection.
Mezuzah Donations
The Yamam, the IDF’s elite counter-terrorism unit, carries out some of the IDF’s most dangerous missions. Many of the mezuzahs on their training base are damaged, and My Soldier is the only organization that has been granted access to enter the base and replace them.
To replace all mezuzahs on the Yamam base with Kosher mezuzahs, granting this brave unit with the special protection that mezuzahs bring. We will then continue working to provide mezuzahs to IDF bases across Israel.
Jewish Holiday Items
Most Jewish Holidays require special items such as a Lulav and Etrog for Sukkot, or a Menorah for Chanukah. Many soldiers wish to celebrate the Holidays properly, but can’t get hold of the necessary items.
To provide IDF soldiers with everything they need to celebrate the Holidays properly, so that they can remain connected to Jewish tradition during their service, and feel excited about the various Holidays.
